CVSS v3.1 |
SOEM version 2.0.0 and earlier contains vulnerabilities where a malicious device can send messages that cause the master to read data from memory locations beyond the intended buffer. The software uses length values from device responses without validating them against actual buffer sizes. An attacker can exploit this to extract up to 64KB of data from the master's memory.
libical through 4.0.6 contains a heap-based out-of-bounds read in icalvalue_decode_ical_string() in src/libical/icalvalue.c when decoding input ending in a backslash. Attackers can supply escaped iCalendar text with a trailing backslash, causing the loop to read past the terminator and crash the application or leak adjacent heap memory.
FreeImage (danoli3 fork) through 3.19.23 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in Unpack32Bits() in PluginPICT.cpp because rowBytes is never checked against the file-controlled PixMap width. Attackers can supply a crafted PICT file with a truncated or undersized rowBytes to over-read up to 64 KiB of heap, leaking memory into decoded pixels or crashing the process.
NetSurf libnsbmp through 0.1.7 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in bmp_decode_mask() that allows attackers to read one byte past the image buffer by supplying crafted ICO files. Attackers can provide an ICO whose inner bitmap width is not a multiple of 8, causing a heap over-read that can crash applications calling bmp_decode().
Concurrent execution using shared resource with improper synchronization ('race condition') in Windows Credential Providers allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Out-of-bounds read in Windows IKE Extension allows an unauthorized attacker to disclose information over a network.
Out-of-bounds read in Windows Overlay Filter allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Heap-based buffer overflow in Windows Universal Disk Format File System Driver (UDFS) allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Out-of-bounds read in Windows Text Shaping allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network.
Heap-based buffer overflow in Windows Resilient File System (ReFS) allows an authorized attacker to execute code locally.
| The Discovery naming-service reply parser in Apache bRPC (versions < 1.18.0) calls RapidJSON object-only accessors (FindMember) on JSON values without first validating that those values are objects. A malformed Discovery response whose data/service members or instances list contain non-object entries (e.g. a bare integer) triggers the RapidJSON object-access precondition on the client, reading memory out of bounds and potentially crashing the bRPC client.
Root Cause:
In src/brpc/policy/discovery_naming_service.cpp, DiscoveryNamingService::GetServers() and DiscoveryNames::ListDiscoveryNodes() access JSON values with member functions on non-object values. RapidJSON only defines these operations for object types; invoking them on a non-object violates the class invariant and results in undefined behavior (out-of-bounds read), commonly crashing the process.
Affected Scenarios:
An operator-configured (or compromised) Discovery backend returns a malformed /discovery/nodes or /discovery/fetchs response whose data/service/instance entries are not JSON objects, crashing any bRPC client that refreshes its server list.
How to Fix:
1. Upgrade bRPC to version 1.18.0 or later, which fixes this issue.
2. Apply this patch: https://github.com/apache/brpc/pull/3533
The fix validates that the Discovery response data, per-service data, and instance entries are JSON objects (and skips non-object node/instance entries and rejects non-object data/service values) before calling member accessors. |
libewf through 20260924 contains a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in libewf_lef_extended_attribute_read_data() because UTF-16 name and value sizes are validated before being doubled. Attackers can supply a crafted .L01/.Lx01 file with oversized 'ea' metadata counts to crash the application or leak uninitialized heap memory through extended attributes.
Heap-based buffer overflow in Windows Hyper-V allows an authorized attacker to execute code locally.
Heap-based buffer overflow in Windows Group Policy allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
A security vulnerability has been detected in GNOME libgsf up to 1.14.60. The impacted element is the function ole_info_read_metabat of the file gsf/gsf-infile-msole.c of the component OLE2 Parser. The manipulation leads to heap-based buffer overflow. The attack can be initiated remotely. The identifier of the patch is a8e25560b74f84c3f86df6ca0ac59195fa5af68a. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue.
A security vulnerability has been detected in libimobiledevice up to 1.4.0. Impacted is the function afc_file_open of the file src/afc.c of the component AFC File Handler. The manipulation of the argument bytes leads to out-of-bounds read. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
A vulnerability was identified in libimobiledevice up to 1.4.0. This affects an unknown part of the file src/afc.c of the component AFC. Such manipulation leads to heap-based buffer overflow. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
A flaw was found in BusyBox dpkg. The write_status_file() function does not reset a field cursor between package stanzas. When two packages are removed in a single invocation and the first stanza is larger than the second, the second package stanza can be dropped from the status file, causing limited data corruption.
SOEM version 2.0.0 and earlier contains multiple vulnerabilities in frame processing where a malicious device can cause the master to read data outside allocated buffers. The software uses length and offset values from device messages without validating them against buffer sizes. This can cause the master to access invalid memory locations, potentially disclosing sensitive information or causing crashes.
SOEM version 2.0.0 and earlier contains a vulnerability in multi-segment data transfers where a malicious device can overflow memory buffers. The software checks the total size only once at the beginning, but doesn't track the cumulative size as multiple segments arrive. An attacker can declare a small initial size to pass validation, then send additional segments that exceed the allocated buffer. This allows the attacker to write controlled data beyond buffer boundaries, potentially enabling code execution.
