CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amdgpu: free the userptr ranges when a CS fails after parser_bos
amdgpu_cs_parser_bos() allocates an HMM range for every userptr entry of
the BO list and looks up the user pages. Those ranges are only freed when
amdgpu_cs_parser_bos() itself fails or when amdgpu_cs_submit() checks
them under the notifier lock. If amdgpu_cs_patch_jobs(),
amdgpu_cs_vm_handling(), amdgpu_cs_sync_rings() or the early part of
amdgpu_cs_submit() fails, nothing frees them: neither
amdgpu_cs_parser_fini() nor amdgpu_bo_list_free() touch e->range.
Each such CS then leaks the range, its hmm_pfns array (8 bytes per page
of the userptr BO) and the BO reference the range holds. An IB on a ring
that patches the CS in place (e.g. VCN) with an unmapped va_start fails
in amdgpu_cs_patch_ibs() and takes this path.
Free the ranges on those error paths. Ranges amdgpu_cs_submit() already
dropped are NULL, so freeing them again is a no-op.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: SEV: Fix page dirtying in sev_gmem_post_populate()
set_page_dirty() requires that the caller holds some kind of lock to
ensure that the page's mapping does not concurrently go away.
That is not the case for a random page we got from get_user_pages_fast(),
so use set_page_dirty_lock().

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
autofs: ignore notification errors from a replaced pipe
autofs_notify_daemon() takes a reference to the current notification
pipe under wq_mutex, then drops the mutex before writing the request. The
write can block while the daemon enters catatonic mode and installs a
replacement pipe.
If the old pipe's reader is then closed, the delayed write returns -EPIPE
and the generic error path enters catatonic mode again. That transition
acts on the current superblock state, closes the replacement pipe, and
releases the new daemon generation's wait queues.
Only enter catatonic mode when the pipe which failed is still the current
pipe. Factor the already-locked transition so the identity check and state
change are atomic with respect to another replacement.
This was reproduced on v7.3-rc5-337-gff47652a4b66c in a local QEMU guest.
An unprivileged UID 65534 lookup filled the old packet pipe before a
normal CATATONIC/SETPIPEFD restart. On the unmodified kernel, the new pipe
received HUP and both a pending victim lookup and a later lookup failed
with ENOENT in two out of two fresh-mount runs.
With this change, the new pipe remained active, received an intact
304-byte request, and both victim lookups completed in two out of two
runs. Normal lookup and restart-without-a-blocked-writer controls passed.
No KASAN, oops, refcount, or lock diagnostic was observed. A source
reproducer and complete local logs are available privately on request.
The demonstrated impact is limited to denial of a shared autofs service
during a legitimate daemon restart. No memory corruption, information leak,
privilege escalation, or code execution primitive was observed. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
perf: Fix perf_pmu_migrate_context() leaving events behind
__perf_pmu_remove() walks the group leaders of a CPU and PMU with
perf_event_groups_for_cpu_pmu(), removing each one as it goes.
perf_remove_from_context() takes the leader out of the groups rbtree,
after which rb_next() on that node returns NULL, prematurely ending the
walk. Other groups stay behind in the source context.
On CPU hotplug, they are then torn down with the dying CPU. They keep
running until teardown, while the PMU's interrupt and migrated events
are on a new CPU, which drivers rely on never happening.
Walk ctx->event_list instead and pick out the PMU's events by their
pmu_ctx. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: ti: icssm-prueth: Move setting of netops to fix crash
icssm_prueth_netdev_init() calls of_phy_get_and_connect() before
ndev->netdev_ops is assigned. phy_attach_direct() ->
phy_link_topo_add_phy() reads dev->netdev_ops through
netdev_need_ops_lock() since the commit in question, so probing crashes
with a NULL pointer dereference when CONFIG_NET_SHAPER is enabled.
Assign netdev_ops before the PHY attach, as was done for emac in commit
7c9f391ec89c ("net: emac: move setting of netops to fix crash"). |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ntfs: take invalidate_lock in ntfs_setattr_size()
ntfs_setattr_size() updates i_size and resizes the on-disk attribute
without holding mapping->invalidate_lock. Page faults take the lock
shared, so a fault racing the resize can resolve a VCN against the
transient runlist state of ntfs_non_resident_attr_expand() and fail
with a spurious SIGBUS, and can interleave with the size-change
epilogue (truncate_pagecache(), i_size_write(),
pagecache_isize_extended()).
Take invalidate_lock exclusively around the whole resize after
inode_dio_wait(), matching the fallocate path and other filesystems
such as xfs, which wraps truncate in its mmaplock (= invalidate_lock). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
page_pool: keep frag_offset aligned for odd-sized requests
page_pool_alloc_frag_netmem() rounds the requested fragment size with
size = ALIGN(size, dma_get_cache_alignment());
dma_get_cache_alignment() returns 1 unless the architecture defines
ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN, which DMA-coherent architectures such as x86 do not.
There the ALIGN() is a no-op and pool->frag_offset advances by the raw,
unrounded size.
A single caller asking for an odd size then leaves frag_offset misaligned
for every fragment carved out of that page afterwards. The pool is shared,
so the damage is not confined to the caller that caused it.
The per-cpu system_page_pool used by generic XDP hits this.
skb_pp_cow_data() allocates its fragments with the raw packet length:
size = min_t(u32, len, PAGE_SIZE);
truesize = size;
page = page_pool_dev_alloc(pool, &page_off, &truesize);
leaving frag_offset odd for whatever is carved out of that page next. Its
own head allocation is already aligned -- SKB_HEAD_ALIGN(size) plus the
XDP_PACKET_HEADROOM its callers pass -- so it is a later user of the shared
pool that pays: page_pool_dev_alloc_va() returns a misaligned buffer,
napi_build_skb() installs it as skb->head, and skb_shinfo(skb) ==
skb->head + skb->end is misaligned with it.
skb_shinfo()->dataref is a 4-byte atomic_t at offset 0x20, so the
atomic_inc() in __skb_clone() straddles a cache line. On x86 with split
lock detection -- fatal for kernel split locks by default -- this panics
the machine:
Oops: Split lock detected

__netif_receive_skb_one_core+0x85/0xa0
process_backlog+0x87/0x130
Reproduced by attaching any generic-mode XDP program to loopback and
opening a RAW IPPROTO_UDP socket, which makes raw_local_deliver() clone
every locally delivered UDP packet; ordinary DNS traffic then triggers it,
roughly once per 2500 clones. Observed on 6.12.101 and 7.1.8.
Tracing page_pool_alloc_frag_netmem() over one such run shows the
amplification -- two odd-sized requests, nine misaligned offsets:
requested size & 7: 0: 17035 5: 1 7: 1
frag_offset & 7: 0: 17028 3: 1 4: 1 5: 1 6: 1 7: 5
and skb_pp_cow_data() returning heads that were aligned on entry:
head 0xffff8f4c86aeac00 -> 0xffff8f4c53a9a9c4 (&7=4)
head 0xffff8f4d6a8a42c0 -> 0xffff8f4c4f7b7a45 (&7=5)
Round the fragment size up to at least the alignment struct skb_shared_info
requires, so fragments are always suitably aligned for the objects callers
build on them. Architectures needing a larger DMA alignment keep it.
This also makes the remainder computed in page_pool_alloc_netmem(),
*size = max_size - *offset;
aligned, since max_size is a power of two -- which fixes the matching
misalignment of skb->end.
Verified with a controlled A/B under QEMU/KVM: same tree, same config,
same compiler, same rootfs and identical traffic, differing only by this
patch. A SEC("xdp.frags") XDP_PASS program on lo plus UDP datagrams
larger than max_head_size drives skb_pp_cow_data()'s fragment loop, which
passes raw packet lengths to the pool. Measured at the return of
skb_pp_cow_data():
unpatched patched
skb_pp_cow_data calls 40800 40800
misaligned skb->head 1120 0
dataref at line offset >60 80 0
The last row counts the accesses that actually fault:
skb_shinfo()->dataref sits at head+end+0x20 and is a 4-byte atomic, so
`lock incl` splits a 64-byte cache line only when that address lands at
offset 61..63. All 80 occurrences were at offset 61; the panic reported
above was at offset 62. Eliminating the misalignment removes every one
of them.
