CVSS v3.1 |
| A vulnerability was determined in 2K Games Civilization V 1.0.3.144. Impacted is the function loadstring of the component Lua Sandbox. Executing a manipulation can lead to type confusion. The attack may be performed from remote. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. |
| The Lean 4 kernel does not verify that the structure named in a projection expression matches the type of the value being projected, and environment::add_inductive in src/kernel/inductive.cpp did not type check the nested inductive applications that are replaced by auxiliary types, so their parametric arguments escaped checking. A metaprogram running in the Lean process can register an ill-typed nested inductive whose constructor applies a .proj C 0 projection to a value of the unrelated type W, and the kernel admits the declaration through the ordinary checked addDecl path at maximum kernel checking, without sorry, unsafeCast, debug.skipKernelTC, addDeclWithoutChecking, FFI, or a modified .olean file. The result is a type confusion yielding a proof of False that carries no axioms, from which any proposition can be derived. The published proof of concept additionally pads two expressions until their hashes and approximate depths collide, which defeats kernel caching; that is the technique used to reach the flaw, not its cause. Exploitation requires running a metaprogram in-process, for example by building a project or importing a malicious Lake dependency. |
| Type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 152.0.7977.82 allowed a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High) |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in Desktop Window Manager allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in Windows Secure Kernel Mode allows an authorized attacker to disclose information locally. |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in Windows Ancillary Function Driver for WinSock allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in Windows CD-ROM Driver allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in Windows StateRepository API allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| Wasmtime is a runtime for WebAssembly. From 46.0.0 until 48.0.7 and 49.0.4, lowering a host-created component-model stream or future into a guest can omit a required payload-type check after the value passes through guest code and returns through StreamAny, FutureAny, Val::Stream, Val::Future, or an equivalent typed reader. A malicious guest that controls exported function types or returned values can cause the host to pass the type-erased value to a guest expecting a different payload type, which panics the Wasmtime host. This issue is fixed in versions 48.0.7 and 49.0.4. |
| Wasmtime is a runtime for WebAssembly. Prior to 36.0.19 and 43.0.0, the Cranelift compiler backend bit-packs SSA value indices in a way that can silently overflow in release builds when compiling a sufficiently large or specially crafted Wasm function with many SSA values. The overflow can make Cranelift reference incorrect IR values, causing arbitrary miscompilation, type confusion, and other attacker-controlled effects that may escape the Wasm sandbox on any architecture using the default Cranelift backend. This issue is fixed in versions 36.0.19 and 43.0.0. |
| A flaw in the Node.js `zlib.ZipFile` API can cause it to return bytes that do not belong to the requested entry after the local and central header validation fails.
When `zipEntry.modified` is read on an archive whose local header does not match its central directory, either directly or while compacting the archive, the validation error is caught but the parsed local header is left cached without a content offset. A later content read then returns attacker-controlled bytes from the start of the file instead of rejecting the archive, and CRC-32 verification still passes because the attacker controls the central directory CRC. A Node.js-based scanner can therefore approve different content from what another ZIP implementation extracts from the same archive.
This vulnerability affects Node.js **26.x**. |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in RPC Runtime allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in DNS Server allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code over a network. |
| Access of resource using incompatible type ('type confusion') in Windows Ancillary Function Driver for WinSock allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally. |
| Improper enforcement of behavioral workflow in Windows DNS allows an unauthorized attacker to deny service over a network. |
| For XSA-308 logic was introduced, as VMX VMEntry checks do not like the
exact combination of state which occurs when #DB in intercepted, Single
Stepping is active, and blocked by STI/MovSS is active, despite this being
a legitimate state to be in. The resulting VMEntry failure is fatal to
the guest.
Sadly there is another special sub-case of the above, with branch tracing
enabled. In that case the prior adjustment would still cause a VMentry
failure, as before fatal to the guest. |
| FileRise is a self-hosted web-based file manager with multi-file upload, editing, and batch operations. Prior to 3.23.0, FileRise stores failed TOTP verification attempts in $_SESSION. An attacker who already possesses a target account's valid primary credential can restart the login workflow in a new session and restore the second-factor attempt allowance, permitting continued online TOTP guessing beyond the intended five-attempt limit. The pending-login TOTP handlers did not share a durable account-wide limit. This issue is fixed in version 3.23.0. |
| DBI versions before 1.656 for Perl crash via type confusion in dbi_profile when a database handle is destroyed under a Profile Path with an {attr} element.
An {attr} element names a database handle attribute, which dbi_profile reads from the handle's inner hash. It expects the inner handle as a reference and dereferences it, but a handle that is being destroyed hands back the inner hash itself, so the dereference yields the hash's bucket array. A type check on that pointer usually fails and the call goes unprofiled. When the memory it addresses passes the check, the attribute lookup dereferences a NULL or invalid pointer and the process dies on SIGSEGV.
The Path is set by the application, by the Profile handle attribute, or by the DBI_PROFILE environment variable, so `DBI_PROFILE={ImplementorClass}` can crash an unmodified program. |
| Wasmtime before 24.0.12, 25.0.0 before 36.0.13, 37.0.0 before 46.0.2, and 47.0.0 before 47.0.3 contains a type confusion vulnerability because several Store APIs fail to validate that objects belong to the Store's Engine. Embedders mixing objects between Engines via Instance::new, StructRefPre::new, or Tag::new can trigger trampoline signature mismatches causing out-of-bounds stack writes, GC heap corruption, or panics. |
| Wasmtime 47.0.0 before 48.0.4 and 49.0.0 before 49.0.2 contains an improper validation vulnerability that accepts components whose core modules import WebAssembly tags with a subtype of the original type. Malicious guests can mis-type exception object payloads to corrupt the GC heap, causing Wasmtime to panic when the exceptions proposal is enabled. |
